They way they do it is by memorizing whole sentences. At first it appears as if there is too much English. The value

of too much English is once you start translating you need both the English and the mandarin. You learn the grammas

by memorizing the sentences. At this site the available material is learned in approximately 6 months. One tape a day

should do it. After this material the diplomats go on to study other things but this is the basis of all material for the future.

To bring back my mandarin after letting it lay dormant for many years I did these tapes. It made me really fluent. When

you get that fluent then if you don’t know a word you just ask someone. The sentences are constructed with excellent

grammar. By memorizing the sentences you have also memorized the grammar. It is free and again you don’t have to

carry the books with you. Everything is available at the site.
