- There are three centres of Mandaringarden in Shanghai: one is in Shanghai TV university, one is in Zhongshan Park( these centres are for oversea student), the other is in HongQiao(for oversea companies and individuals). The traffic is very convenient. You can take Line 2,3,4 to West Yan’an Road, and many bus lines.

- 5. How to choose courses? And how much time to commit?
- It depends on your study target and expectation. Those who want to control the communication skills in daily life can choose general Chinese. General Chinese has three levels, and each level has three books, and each book will take 50hours. Those who want to control business or commercial communication skills can choose business Chinese. Business Chinese has 4 levels, each level will take 80 to 100 hours. Those who want to control Listening、Speaking、Writing skills can choose Listening、Speaking、 Writing Course. Those who want to pass HSK exam can choose HSK Exam Preparation course. Those who are interested in Chinese Culture and history can choose Chinese Character coursesand Chinese Culture course.
- 6. Must You Learn Chinese Characters?
- Not really. Pinyin(Chinese phonetic notations) is for communication, and Chinese Characters are for reading and writing. Chinese Characters are always studied above intermediate level.
- 7. How can you know your Chinese Level?
- After you register in Mandaringarden, our teacher will test you in grammar and oral speaking. Based on this test, you will be placed into the appropriate level.

- 8. How about time and location for class?
- It depends on your convenient time and can be adjusted according to your schedule. You can choose the location for class: our campus, your company, your home, or coffee bar.
- 9. How about the test?
- After each 50 hours, there is a paper examination. If you don’t want it, there is also oral test for you. After the examination, the teacher will make a study report for you to analyse your advantages and disadvantages and how to improve.
- 10 what is Chinese Culture Activities?
- Human Language is a direct manifestation of culture, learning a second language involves learning a second culture. The Hongqiao Center of Mandaringarden will provide various activities for you. Each month there are two culture activities in Mandaringarden. One is life class to help you expand daily life knowledge and make friends with other foreign students. The other is Chinese culture class. We provide various Chinese Culture Activities for you. We have successfully held Lantern Festival, Making Dumplings, ChineseTea & Chinese Guzhen, Dragon Boat Festival—make zongzi, Chinese Painting, etc.. Besides those activities, there are many parties held in neighbourhood, such as, Go Fishing, Easter Day, Children’s Day, Halloween Party, etc.. Welcome you and you friends to join us!
- 11. How can get the information of Chinese Culture Activities?
- Mandaringarden will inform you the activity one week in advance by e-mail. The next day our service will confirm the information and time with you by telephone or messages.
- 12. What can I get inChineseCultureActivities？
- You can obtain Chinese traditional culture and customs. You can learn how to DIY Chinese handicraft works. You can make friends with each other. You can get some small gifts from Mandaringarden. Especially， we will offer you some word cards related with the activity, such as , after flower arrangement activity, we will offer you the flower cards with flower pictures and names in English, Pinyin and Chinese and Flower Market Address.
- 13. Can I get the photos of activities?
- Yes. After each activities, we will send the pictures and Chinese study materials to you by email.
- 14. When do we hold Chinese Culture Activities?
- Our Life Class is always work day and weekends. Our community activities are always on weekends.

- About visa
- 1. What kind of visa should I apply?
- You should apply for “L visa”(tourist visa) or “F visa”(business visitor visa) “L visa” is usually valid from 30 to 90days. It is the most easy and fastest to obtain. “F visa” is usually valid from 60 to 180 days. If you have any problem in applying for visa, we could assist you by informing us 10 working days in advance. Application for visa renewal is available in China by 3 Working days, and you should apply no later than 3 days prior to your expiry of visa. If you need other kinds of visa, please contact us for assistance.
- 2. Can I obtain a study visa?
- No. The study visa is just for those who register in the universities.
- 3. Can Mandarin Garden provide JW201 or JW202 form?
- Mandarin Garden does not provide these forms.
- About Accommodation
- 1. What kinds of accommodation do we offer?
- We can help you to find a appreciate accommodation: private apartment, home stay, shared apartment, youth hostel, etc.

- The accommodations are surrounded by various restaurants and snack bars.

- About payment
- 1. How can you pay?
- You can pay cash or card. Full payment must be paid no later than 2 weeks from the date of registration.
