In many third world countries there are little stands that may make a dish or two. Normally the sanitation

could be better but they tend to have good tasting food and are very cheap. In America the stands have

turned into Mc Donalds and KFC. Today the food at that kind of place is not very appetizing. While I was in

Taiwan I noticed there are less stands than their used to be but fast food Chinese restaurants opened up all

over. They looked kind of like an American fast food restaurant but they served the type of food you would buy

at a little stand like still exists in shi lin market for example or in the little cubby holes in Shanghai. They were

clean and new. Most served just a few dishes and the maximum cost for anything was about 4 US dollars for

a whole meal. There was one beside my hotel that had three kinds of dishes, rice in a metal bowl, cellophane

noodles or the big wide noodles. These could have anything on top from all vegetables to beef, pork, lamb or

seafood. The rice in the metal bowl was something I had never seen before. It caused the rice to form a crust

that was very crunchy. This is also a sign or the very best paellas in Spain. These modernized food stands were

even in the airport. Most airports are expensive with bad food. These modern Chinese fast food places were the

main restaurants in Taoyuan. My whole meal cost 4.50 US. It had soup, dessert and a bowl of pork wanton and

noodles. You had a choice of different sauces also. It was delicious. I think the Chinese have beaten us Americans

on the fast food restaurants!
