I have compared several schools before my decision. I want to learn Chinese well and I also like to know Chinese culture. And I think the attitude of the teacher, the consultant here are all very positive. I like to stay with them and get the care from th
I love to read the English news papers in China for
entertainment.Sometimes the English is funny and sometimes
the topics are funny. An example is the head line a Fill
in Conductor is very distinguished.Instead of saying a
substitute conductor the word fill in conductor was used.
Normally fill in is used as a verb instead of an adjective.
It was an article about the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s
tour in China that a different conductor was going to conduct
the orchestra instead of the conductor that had been advertized.
I found another entraining article also, Teacher Kisses Pig.
The teacher made a promise that if the students stopped
littering in front of the gate to the school he would kiss
a pig.
On the same day I also found another expression in an article
about credit card theft that caught my attention; a woman who
tried to apply for a credit card using someone else’s identity
card has been detained by police after an eagle-eyed bank clerk
spotted that the card belonged to his branch manager.
Referring to eagle eyed bank clerk where normally we would say
an astute bank clerk. These different uses of the English language
are not only entertaining but give you an insight into the way of
thinking of another culture.
