We don’t give classes in how to deal with bureaucracies but we should. My husband was a US diplomat and a great bureaucrat. At first I really didn’t like dealing with these big offices that often never were very efficient but finally I got to appreciate them. These offices in Government would have so many rules that had nothing to do with what one was trying to accomplish. My first encounter was trying to arrange a concert series for myself with the US State Department. The US consulate in Barcelona had invited me to perform but the Washington Office told me no such invitation had been sent. My husband was in what is called the operations center in Washington. It was getting close to the time when I had to buy my ticket to get to Spain from Washington. We were not yet married. I had met him at a chamber music party a few weeks before. As he was the only person I knew in Government I asked for help. He looked into for me a found that the Consulate had failed to send a copy of the letter to the Washington Office. As Washington didn’t have a copy, they were not funding my concert, nor my ticket nor anything. Once the problem he discovered what the problem was, all was solved. I since appreciated that the bureaucracy was so inefficient that nothing got done. It was so inefficient that it kept all the other competition away. When I started shipping horses the same thing happened. For many years I was the only one shipping horses to China as I was the only one who knew how to move the bureaucracies. If a bureaucracy wants a piece of paper you have to give it the piece of paper it wants.yGyLearn chinese in shanghai,Learn mandarin, Mandaringarden
