As the world economy is very difficult right now I started looking for other ways to earn a living. Normally when I get out of my field I make big mistakes. My areas of expertise are guitars and horses. Now I’m trying to learn about wood for making guitars. There is a whole in the market as most lumber yards and wood dealer only want to sell to big factories. Supplying just the artisan is of no interest to them. I thought that could be a way I can make a contribution and also make some money. I tried going to the guitar makers and each one showed me a little bit about how to pick out wood. While I was at a guitar convention I got some beautiful photos of a beautiful looking wood. It looked like a picture of modern art. I went to India to buy the wood. After looking at wood I finally went to buy from their finest grade. I brought back samples from each different log. I liked the one fancy one best as it was so pretty. I found out the hard way. After back in Spain for only two days the fancy set started to move and bend. Wood has to be flat and stable to make a guitar. It bent in the middle in one direction then it bent on the sides in another direction. I had to put many books on top of it to get it flat again. If a guitar were made of that wood it would very likely crack or any slight bump could make it come unglued or split. I learned the hard way why a good guitar maker is only going to pick out certain kinds of wood!
