Sometimes a person can receive a good education or better for that matter at an unknown school or institution. Part of Education which can’t be stressed enough is the ambiance in which one learns. One learns any subject not only from the teacher but from the other students who are also studying. In college one of the main reasons to go to Harvard is to rub elbows with the best contacts for your future. It is not only for your present education. When I studied in the Segovia Courses particularly in Italy all the musicians who became famous passed though Siena. Once I was a professional musician I had all the contacts already before I even started because we all had been students at the same place. People were trying everything to get the contacts that I had just because I was there during all of our formative years.
Now 50 or more years later once again I’m relying on all those same contacts. The students from that era are all friends or acquaintances. We have established relationships so it makes it much easier to put together a music festival for example as I’m able to call all my friends from 50 years ago to make it happen. If I were unfamiliar to all these people I would not be able to even get them to pick up the phone or answer an email. Please remember when educating yourself or your children that Education is not only knowledge it is the development of the contacts you make in the process of Education!
