One day I went up to the stable to train my horse in Granada. The owner of the stable had a super market. I went to the stable expecting my horse to give me a kiss as he always did. I opened the stall door and an ostrich jumped out first hitting my face with his beak. The owner of the stable failed to tell me they had moved my horse to a different barn as they had planned to butcher the ostrich for the upcoming festival. Someone was promoting ostrich meat. As I didn’t know and opened the door the ostrich came running out and we had an ostrich on the loose. They are very tall and none of us had ostrich know how. The task at hand was how to get the ostrich back in the stall. We all grabbed lounge whips and tried to herd it into the stall. In the mean time it ran around the ranch. The area was enclosed but all the horses could stick their heads out of the stalls and tried to bite the ostrich or that was my other horse Romantico's behavior. We finally got the ostrich in the stall. I went to work Punter who was a young stallion and a bit difficult. When I went to bath him it wasn’t possible because the ostrich was hanging in the shower stall partially butchered! That was the end of the ostrich. It produced so little meat there was never another ostrich at the farm.
